Fact: TNA Xplosion is finally getting a push – hooray!

I am too excited at this news – finally, TNA are making their (potentially hugely brilliant) Xplosion show count for something. They’re launching an eight-man Maximum Impact tournament, starting tonight, and the eventual winner will get a World Heavyweight Title shot during the Impact tour of the UK this January.

The last man left standing after the weeks of competition (aired on Challenge TV at 10pm every Wednesday) will have the chance to challenge for the belt – currently held by newly-heelified Bobby Roode – at either TNA’s MAXIMUM IMPACT 2012 live event in Nottingham (January 26), Manchester (January 27) or London (January 28).

So – who’s up for the challenge? Well, official friend of TOWIS Magnus, for starters; the epicly bearded Eric Young, former Television Champion; Kazarian, he of the lovely hair; and Christopher Daniels, complete with eyeliner. The other four names will be announced shortly.

This will be the first time that one of Impact’s stars has a title shot outside the US, if you can believe that, and TNA president Dixie Carter says it’s “a big thank you” to the “loyal and dynamic” UK fans.

Tickets for the MAXIMUM IMPACT Tour can be bought from http://www.gigsandtours.com / 0844 811 0051 or http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk  / 0844 826 2826.

So this will be house shows taped matches for Xplosion? Sweet 🙂

I remember when Xplosion was going to have their Xplosion title tournament. Then it disappeared when Desmond Wolfe did. I’ve seen a few eps of the show. They seem to only be 1 exclusive match under a blue light… The spin cycle segment and maybe Jeremy Borash wandering around a city. At least that’s what they post on Youtube.

I think they could do a lot with Xplosion by just having 1 Xplosion taping for 4 weeks of Xplosion with 1-2 exclusive matches. Then have a non televisded main event of20 minutes of AJ vs Joe or Daniels vs RVD.

Well, I’m watching Xplosion now – the other four in the tournament are Matt Morgan, Samoa Joe, Devon, and Doug Williams (hooray!).

    • workmancer says:

Just those names alone have me sold. I’m going to check this out soon. I expect Morgan to come out the winner … from those names.

      • Carrie says:

I’m wondering whether we should be keeping an eye on Doug and Magnus bearing in mind that the title match will be during the UK tour?

  3. workmancer says:

No we shouldn’t keep an eye on them. Magnus has improved yes. Williams is still great, but eh they’re just not top TNA guys right now. In fact I’m wondering do you give one of them the title shot in the UK knowing that ultimately they have to lose?

Oh and after the UK tour…. do you have that match free on Impact?

    • Carrie says:

Well, that’s what I was assuming – they won’t give either the title but it’ll certainly be a crowd draw. Would imagine that match will be a bonus on Impact, but not sure.

      • workmancer says:

I guess the catch to Impact would be no build to the title unless you do weekly recaps. But I think I have a better idea that giving Doug Williams the shot… give it to Magnus since he’s famous over there and on European Gladiators or whatever its called. Roode goes over… but also on the card, Williams vs Robbie E. Williams goes over for the TV title. Now that I think about it Rob Terry is from the UK as well… hmmm.

      • Carrie says:

        Carrie fears Rob Terry.

Then you will fear this photo of Rob Terry >> http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/49409
