Remember when I went on a rant last summer about how British professional wrestling could make itself more professional?
Here’s another pointer to add to the list – don’t post creepy ads on Gumtree.
In case you can’t read the screenshot, the ad is for a “young female to front YouTube series”, and the job description runs thus:
We are a Professional Wrestling company based in Cheshire who are looking for a Young Female to be the face of a YouTube series we are hoping to launch in Spring 2013.
We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who is either studying towards a career in Acting/Media or has previous experience in similar roles. The ability to drive is fairly important due to filming taking place in fairly remote places. An interest in Professional Wrestling would be an advantage, but not essential if other aspects make up for it.
The pay for this role will be somewhat minimal and will be discussed at a later date.
To apply please e-mail us with any show reels you make have as well as a little about yourself. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Seriously, the wording of this just sounds odd, particularly with the stress on her youth, the filming in “fairly remote places” and the potential of “other aspects” making up for a lack of interest in the business.
I’m sure the ad was placed with the best of intentions, but honestly, presenting yourself as a professional, credible outfit is key if you want to run a decent business. This is not the way to do it.
