I’ll preface this with the admission that I know nothing about gambling or Vegas, but you have to hand it to TNA, they’re really keen on innovation.
Their latest is an “online slot-machine game” via the Sky Vegas website, which features Kurt Angle, Mickie James, Sting, Bobby Roode, plus Velvet Sky, whose promo picture for this (left) makes me weep for feminism.
TNA President Dixie Carter’s press quotes enthuse thus: “I recently returned from such a great visit to the UK where I announced the 2014 TNA Tour, and I’m thrilled to continue expanding TNA’s brand reach in the UK and Ireland with this, first ever online slot game.
“I hope age-appropriate fans will play and enjoy!”
If this is your cup of tea, do let us know in the comments a bit more about what the game is and what you make of it.

So tonight I was invited along to the Impact Wrestling TV tapings at Wembley Arena. Obviously the two shows I saw being filmed won’t air for a couple of weeks yet, so this report is slightly spoilery, but I’ll try not to give too much away.
Without further ado, some facts about the shows:
1. TNA are returning to the UK next year, and doing shows at the same venues (Manchester, Nottingham, London) plus Glasgow Braehead. Read the rest of this entry »

You’ve probably seen former WWE Diva Gail Kim’s shoot by now, in which she talks about why she left WWE and criticises the way the Divas division is run.
I totally wanted to be on her side on this, but I’m really not. The entire episode makes Kim seem alternately ridiculously naive, childish and ever so slightly spiteful.
That’s not to say the WWE come out looking fantastic – of course they don’t – but have we really learnt anything about them we didn’t already know? Let’s consider the facts. Read the rest of this entry »

Mickie James has to be one of the hardest-working women in pro wrestling. Not only is she on the road with TNA – “for 200 days out of the past year,” she sighs – but she’s also working on her new album. It’s a cliché, but how does she balance two demanding and creative careers?
“Wrestling, for me, I feel I know it well enough that I can get in there, do my dance and do it rather well; but I’m tapping into adrenalin-based emotion,” she says. “Music is more like the heart and soul. I try to write songs that aren’t what everyone’s said a million times, and that takes you back to a place in your life that you can relate to. It’s fun, because it goes off in a different creative pattern. Being on the road so much, I have a lot of road stories that I can play with!”
But something has to give, surely? “I think sleep is the one thing I give up. And my sanity!” she laughs. Read the rest of this entry »
