Fact: Randy Orton winning the Royal Rumble is annoying – but maybe not for the reasons you think

January 30, 2017

The bookies were right. Randy Orton won the 30th annual Royal Rumble to secure his place at WrestleMania.

Except…Randy Orton was always going to be at WrestleMania. He’s Randy Orton. The Viper. The Legend-Killer. The Evolution of the Legacy. His place on the big stage is assured.

But he’s a safe choice – and when it came down to the final two, with Roman Reigns the other man still standing, an Orton win was the only way to assure cheers rather than boos as the show went off the air.

Something else that would have assured cheers would have been a more exciting, more interesting choice for the winner – somebody who’s not already guaranteed a shot at the year’s biggest show. Read the rest of this entry »

Fact: the Miz does not look nice

December 12, 2012

After doubting that Seth Rollins has the right facial composition to make a convincing bad guy, I feel I should also point out that Miz has the opposite problem.

He is difficult to take seriously as a good guy because he looks like what he pretty much seems to be – an over-the-top, annoying, smug loudmouth.

LOOK AT THIS FACE. Read the rest of this entry »

Fact: Seth Rollins does not look evil

December 12, 2012

As you know, Seth Rollins is one-third of the new WWE vigilante posse, The Shield.

Having spent the previous few months moshing his two-tone hair around NXT as a face champion, it seems odd to now see him attempting to be evil alongside Dean Ambrose and The Wrestler Formerly Known As Leakee. This is particularly the case as his promos, supposed to be seething with rage, are looking fairly unconvincing next to the barely suppressed insanity of his cohort Ambrose.

But seriously. Look at this pretty visage.
